Event Location:

Suzhou is a city that embodies the best of China's rich history and modern technology. Following completion of the new high-speed railway, Suzhou is now accessible from Shanghai in less than 30 minutes.

The conference is located at Xi.an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, which is based in the purpose-built Higher Education Town of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). In the SIP district you will find leading international businesses and universities, excellent Hotels, restaurants and Bars.

Historically, Suzhou was the capital of the kingdom of Wu from the 12th to 4th centuries BC. In its many beautiful gardens and courtyard parks, Suzhou's ancient heritage has been remarkably well preserved. Suzhou old town is around 20 minutes by taxi from the conference venue (cost approx. $7 USD) or about 40 minutes by bus (cost under $1 USD).

Important sites in the Suzhou area include: The Humble Administrator's Garden, The Master of Nets Garden, the Twin Pagodas, Tiger Hill and Lake Tai. Suzhou's proximity to Shanghai it is also easily possible to explore one of China's largest and liveliest cities.

Hotel Information:

We recommend the Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool Conference Center hotel, in which all conference sessions will be held.

All 136 guest rooms are equipped with an LCD satellite television, broadband Internet access, phone line, safe and mini-bar. The hotel restaurant serves both Chinese and International dishes. A wide selection of refreshments is also available in the hotel bar. The staff at the hotel reception speaks both English and Chinese.

For NESEA'10 attendees, a special rate of 348RMB (approx. $55 USD) per night has been negotiated. Instructions on how to book the hotel will be posted on this page along with detail of how to register by October 17th 2010.

Travel Directions:

Conference Taxi from Shanghai International Airports (RECOMMENDED):
The Local Chair will arrange transport between the conference site and Shanghai's two international airports for 380RMB (approx. $60 USD) each way. The taxi ride takes approximately 2 hours. Contact daniel.hughes@xjtlu.edu.cn to book the conference taxi.

Bus from Shanghai International Airports:
Bus services to Suzhou operate several times per day from both airports and take aproximately 2.5 hours. Follow the signs for the long distance bus service at the airport. Tickets may be bought the same day in cash. Disembark at the first stop in Suzhou and catch a local cab to the conference venue (see map above).

Rail from Shanghai Pudong International Airport:
Follow the signs for the Mag-Lev station. Purchase a Mag-Lev ticket. Take the Mag-Lev train to Longyang Road. Follow the signs to the subway station. Purchase a subway ticket to Shanghai Railway Station. Take the No. 2 subway line to People's Square. Disembark and change to the No. 1 subway line to Shanghai Railway Station. Disembark and purchase a train ticket to Suzhou. Disembark at the first Suzhou station you reach and catch a local taxi to the conference venue (see map above). The total time of this journey will vary due to the delay incurred buying tickets at Shanghai Railway station.

By Rail from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport:
Go to Terminal 2. Follow the signs for the subway station. Purchase a subway ticket to Shanghai Railway Station. Take the No. 2 subway line to the People.s Square. Disembark and change to the No. 1 subway line to Shanghai Railway Station. Disembark and purchase a train ticket to Suzhou. Disembark at the first Suzhou station and catch a local taxi to the conference venue (see map above). The total time of this journey will vary due to the delay incurred buying tickets at Shanghai Railway station.
